Google Helps Build Websites (Kulr8 News)
BILLINGS - A lot of small businesses don't have an I.T. Department, so the idea of building a website may be daunting.Google, partnering with Big Sky Economic Development, brought a team to the Magic City to help local businesses take their companies online. The seminar taught business reps how to build their own website, or improve on one they already have.
"A lot of the folks here have been intimidated by technology," said Chris Wright, a product marketing manager with Google. "A lot of them have never tried before. Maybe their business, they didn't think it had anything to do with the internet, and so they've kind of left that off to the side."
Jeremy Vannatta of Big Sky Economic Development said that a business website doesn't have to be spectacular, but just being there is becoming essential.
"We were chatting on the side that people are almost skeptical if you don't have a website now," said Vannatta. "When I'm on my smart-phone and I check, if someone doesn't have a website, I'm a little skeptical, like is this really someplace I want to do business?"
"We have attendees coming to these session, learning about the websites, and they enter without a website, and when they leave at the end of the day, they're online, they have a domain, they have a web presence," said Wright
